Courts across Illinois now have to tell the State Police when a local judge declares someone mentally disabled. The requirement is part of a new law aimed at keeping people with mental illnesses from buying guns. Governor Rauner signed the law Friday, lawmakers approved the idea unanimously during the spring session.
