SPRINGFIELD – U.S. Senator Dick Durbin has announced that more than $870,000 in federal funding will be distributed to law enforcement agencies throughout the state. Durbin says the $879, 227 in funding will help law enforcement agencies support personnel costs, purchase new vehicles and equipment, and enhance existing programs.
The Illinois Criminal Justice Authority will receive just under $336,000 to support forensics capabilities at seven laboratories, and just under $250,000 to enhance programs to implement Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act. The cities of Champaign, Danville, DeKalb, Waukegan, Carbondale, and Springfield’s police departments were also awarded grants.
