New legislation is aiming to make sure death benefits are properly paid to families by insurance companies in Illinois. Governor Bruce Rauner signed a bill Friday that requires insurers to check their policies against a federal master list. The law had been pushed for by Treasurer Mike Frerichs. There’s also a new online search tool to see if you are due benefits.
