In an effort to promote safety for both motorists and pedestrians around railroad tracks, Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police is coordinating the third, statewide Illinois Rail Safety Week. Illinois Rail Safety Week runs from September 11th to 17th. Pay careful attention at crossings at night and in bad weather and keep in mind that it takes a train conductor over 1 mile to stop a moving train. If you would like more information about Illinois Rail Safety Week, please visit www.illinoisrailsafetyweek.org or contact the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police.
