Deborah K. Dewey, female, age 62, was last seen on August 22, 2016, in Spring Valley, Illinois. On August 29, 2016, Dewey’s gray 2007 Buick LaCrosse, was found unlocked at the TA Truck Stop on Illinois Route 47, just north of I-80.
On September, 12, 2016, Illinois State Police (ISP) Zone 3 Investigations and the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office searched a residence located at 5th Street and Illinois Route 71 in Standard, Illinois. During the search of the residence and surrounding property, Investigators exhumed a body from a shallow grave located in the yard of the residence. The body was transported by the Putnam County Coroner to Bloomington, Illinois, for an autopsy by the Medical Examiner’s Office. The preliminary results of the autopsy indicated the body to be that of Deborah K. Dewey, verified through dental records.
On September 13, 2016, a search warrant for a residence located at 204 8th street in Standard, IL was obtained and executed. Several items of evidence were gathered and the three occupants of the residence were interviewed. Clifford A. Andersen, male age 66, of Standard, IL has been charged with Concealment of a Homicidal Death (Class 3 Felony). Andersen is currently held at the Bureau County Jail on a $750,000 bond.
Assisting agencies include the Illinois State Police, Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, LaSalle Police Department, Peru Police Department, Putnam County State’s Attorney, and Spring Valley Police Department.
This still remains an open and ongoing investigation. No further information will be released at this time.
