Charleston Elementary Schools currently report 56% of students are eligible for Free and Reduced Lunch. According to the school, many children report only eating breakfast and lunch at school, and no other meals the rest of the day. The Food 4 Kids Backpack Program provides children at risk of hunger with bags of food they can take home and easily prepare on their own. They are falling short of the goal of raising $30,000 to fully support the program. A $90.00 donation will take care of a student for half of the school year. If you can help, please drop off checks or non-perishable food items to 615 Monroe in Charleston. For more information, visit charlestonjointpta.org.
