The number of undocumented immigrants living in Illinois is down by about 50-thousand, a ten-percent drop in five years. A study by the Pew Research Center finds that there were about four-hundred-50-thousand unauthorized immigrants in the state as of 2014, compared with half-a-million five years before. The study found that Illinois is one of seven states that saw their overall populations decline over five years, a drop the study attributes to a decrease in the number of unauthorized immigrants from Mexico.
