A Mason man faces charges following a single-vehicle accident last night. According to the Illinois State Police, 18-year-old Clayten Traub was northbound on Mockingbird Road, near the Iola Road, when he began skidding on the gravel road. The vehicle left the roadway, struck a power pole, breaking it in half, and then began overturning. Traub was thrown into the front passenger seat, and three passengers were thrown from the vehicle. He was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, failure to wear a seat belt, and failure to secure a child age 8, but under 16.
