Indians Punch Ticket To World Series
(Toronto, Ontario) — The Cleveland Indians are heading to the World Series for the first time since 1997. Rookie Ryan Merritt and three relievers combined on a six-hit shutout as the Indians blanked the Blue Jays 3-0 in Game Five of the American League Championship Series in Toronto. Cleveland wins the best-of-seven set 4-1. Carlos Santana and Coco Crisp both hit solo home runs for the Tribe, which will be seeking its first World Series championship since 1948. The Indians will play either the Cubs or Dodgers in the Fall Classic. The National League Championship Series is currently tied at two games apiece. Bryan Shaw picked up the win in relief. Marco Estrada yielded three runs in six innings to suffer the loss for the Jays.
