Lola Belle Bottrell, 100, a long-time resident of Windsor, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at Heartland Christian Village, Neoga.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Windsor United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held Friday, October 28, 2016 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home, Windsor, Illinois. Burial will be in Windsor Cemetery.
Lola was born April 13, 1916 in Ash Grove Township, the daughter of George and Izeta (Swits) Curry. In 1936 she married Thomas H. Bottrell who preceded her in death in 1971. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Glenn Curry and Vernon Curry, and two sons, Roger Bottrell in 1985 and Larry Bottrell in 1941.
Lola is survived by two sons, James Bottrell (Louise) of Walker, MN, and Ronald Bottrell (Polly) of Evanston, IL. She has seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, a niece and a nephew.
Lola was a homemaker and a charter member of the Shelby County Home Bureau. She was an active member of American Legion Auxiliary and First United Methodist Church of Windsor, where she taught Sunday School and served as District President of United Methodist Women. She was also a loyal fan of the University of Illinois basketball team and attended games in person for more than fifty years.
