PARCC Test Results Mixed
(Springfield, IL) — New results of the controversial PARCC test of Illinois schools are showing a mixed bag of results. More than half of the state schools made gains in the second year this test has been used, but hundreds of other schools saw declines in scores that were already low. The test is being phased out in state high schools, but last year’s results showed that fewer than 25-percent of high school students passed the math exam, and in reading, about a third of the high schools were below the passing rate. School administrators say that may be in part because students didn’t take the test seriously as compared with the ACT college entrance exam.
