Illinois’ largest employee union wants Governor Rauner to return to the bargaining table and negotiate a new contract. Thousands of American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees protested yesterday throughout the state. The demonstrations were organized after the Illinois Labor Relations Board ruled this week that contract talks between the union and state were at an impasse. The ruling narrowed the options for the union to authorizing a strike or accepting the offer on the table.
