A Pana man is in a Springfield hospital with an apparent self-inflicted knife cuts to his throat, following an arson fire in Pana. According to the Pana Police Department, 55-year-old Bryan Ferguson is accused of entering the home of a woman at Pana Lake, where he began to cut his throat in front of her. The woman fled the residence, and then reported seeing Ferguson dump gasoline around the foundation of the home. The home soon engulfed in flames. Ferguson was eventually located inside his residence lying on the floor with serious knife cuts to his throat area. He was first taken to the Pana Community Hospital, but was later air-lifted to St John’s Hospital in Springfield for further treatment. He’s charged with home invasion with a deadly weapon, and additional charges are pending for aggravated arson and domestic battery. He remains in protective custody by the Christian County Sheriff’s Office while receiving treatment for his injuries.
