Three financially strapped public universities in Illinois will be receiving a combined 17-million-dollars in emergency funding. The Illinois Board of Higher Education voted yesterday to approve the last-minute cash for Western Illinois, Eastern Illinois and Chicago State universities. The money will be used to support operations for the colleges through the end of the year.
