The Charleston girls’ 8th grade basketball team will play for the state championship in 4A this Thursday. They won their tournament opener 57-39 over Chatham Glenwood, and punched their ticket to the title game with a decisive 48-17 win over Markham Prairie Hills. Now 21-0, the ladies will face 26-1 Bethalto Thursday at 7:30.
In 3A, Paris Mayo was eliminated by Germantown Hills. In 2A, Altamont defeated Arcola, and then came up short to Winchester. They’ll play Bloomington Corpus Christi for third place. In 1A, Shiloh beat Pontiac St. Mary’s, and then lost to Normal Epiphany. They’ll play Springfield Christian in the third place game.
