It’s not a new mandatory minimum. State Senator Kwame Raoul says his proposed law would ‘suggest’ judges sentence criminals with a gun conviction already on their record at the higher end of the spectrum. Raoul says he wants to make sure people aren’t serving just 18-months on a gun charge that could mean 14-years in prison. But some of Raoul’s fellow Chicago Democrats aren’t so sure about the idea.
