Due to a water supply line failure on the high school’s campus, there will be no student attendance at Charleston High School today. All other district schools will be open for student attendance as usual.
Last night, district officials were notified of a water supply line failure at the northeast side of the main building. As a result, the high school’s campus has been placed under a boil order until further notice. District maintenance and city utility crews worked through the night to locate, assess and repair the water line. Some water entered the basement level corridor and classrooms, and school custodial staff worked through the night to contain and remove the water.
High school students may enter at the school’s 18th Street entrance today between 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to pick up any personal materials needed to prepare for semester exams.
The high school’s boys’ basketball games against Taylorville scheduled for tonight will be held as originally scheduled.
