Illinois’ success in getting people out of prison or treating them while they’re there is earning the state more praise. The state last week learned it’s one of only three states to be part of the National Criminal Justice Reform Project. The project will send federal money to Illinois to find the best way to deal with drug addiction and mental illness in prison, as well as cut down on the number of inmates who end-up back behind bars.
