One is taken to the hospital after a single vehicle injury crash occurred the morning of Thursday, January 5th along I-57 Northbound near Fayette Avenue in Effingham around 7:10 AM.
According to a recent press release from the Illinois State Police District 12, the driver of Unit 1, Casey W. Holle, age 20 of Effingham, was merging onto I-57 Northbound from Fayette Ave. (Exit 159).
Unit 1 was in the right lane and being passed in the left lane by an unknown truck tractor-semi trailer. At this time a second unknown truck tractor-semi trailer was also in the right lane and catching up to Unit 1. Once the semi in the left lane had passed unit 1, unit 1 went to get into the left lane and while doing so lost control on the snowy roadway and skidded to the left. The front of unit 1’s vehicle struck the concrete median barrier and came to a rest partly on the left shoulder and partly in the left lane of I-57 Northbound.
Unit 1 was transported to the St. Anthony E.R. by Effingham Ambulance
