Spanos: Chargers Moving To Los Angeles
(San Diego, CA) — The San Diego Chargers are headed to Los Angeles. Owner Dean Spanos announced today that the team is relocating after 56 years in San Diego. The Chargers played their first season as an organization in L.A. in 1960 before moving to San Diego in 1961. The team will pay a 550-million-dollar relocation fee and about 12-million to buy out their lease with Qualcomm Stadium. The Chargers will eventually join the Rams at the new two-point-six billion dollar stadium being built in Inglewood.
