Illinois State Police District 09 Interim Commander, Chris Owen, announced the arrest of Jerrold Howard from West Memphis, Arkansas. Howard was wanted in connection with an ongoing murder investigation in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Late Friday night, Howard was stopped on I-55 southbound near milepost 101 by Illinois State Police Troopers. Howard initially fled from the traffic stop in his vehicle. Howard later abandoned his vehicle in the area and fled on foot. Howard was apprehended utilizing an Illinois State Police K9 and taken into custody without further incident. Howard was in possession of a loaded handgun at the time of his arrest.
The investigation is ongoing between the Illinois State Police Zone 4 Investigations and the Little Rock Police Department.
Interim Commander Owen stated “This is an example of trained and experienced Illinois State Police Troopers actively patrolling our communities and removing violent offenders from the roadways.”
