One person is dead and three others injured in an accident in Edgar County. According to the Illinois State Police, it happened just before 2:00 p.m. yesterday on U.S. Highway 150, near Paris. A car driven by a 39-year-old Paris woman was westbound when it crossed the center line and into the path of a van, and collided head-on. The driver of the car was airlifted to the hospital. The driver of the van, 78-year-old Beverly Whitkanack, of Paris, died at the scene. Her two teenage passengers were transported to the hospital by ambulance. The incident remains under investigation.
