The Mattoon Area P.A.D.S. Haven of Hope Campaign has received a matching gift donation from Heller, Holmes & Associates for up to $50,000 through the month of February. The Haven of Hope Campaign goal is to raise $500,000 for the construction of a new facility for their homeless shelter and community kitchen.
“The opportunity to raise $100,000 during the month of February is incredibly exciting, and we are grateful to new supporters and everyone who has supported us already. It is through the generosity of our community that we will be able to provide food and shelter to those in our area who are in need,” says P.A.D.S. Executive Director Michael Stopka.
P.A.D.S. is an emergency shelter and community kitchen. They offer two meals a day and served over 16,000 meals during 2016. Since P.A.D.S. is the only family shelter between Effingham and Champaign its services are crucial. “The limited space negatively effects the services that P.A.D.S. provides,” states Stopka.
Donations to the Haven of Hope campaign can be made by mailing Mattoon Area P.A.D.S., 2017 Broadway Ave., Mattoon, or going online to www.mattoonareapads.org. P.A.D.S. also can be contacted at 217-234-7237.
