The Illinois State Police have released the results of an Alcohol Countermeasure Enforcement Bar ID Check recently conducted the night of Wednesday, February 10th in Champaign county. The countermeasure was conducted by ISP along with the Champaign Police Department.
According to a the results of a recent press release from ISP, 29 citations were issued for possession/purchase of alcohol to a minor and one citation was issued for unlawful delivery of alcohol to a minor. The bars where these citations were conducted in Champaign county included: Kam’s (10 Citations), It’s Brothers (8 citations), Red Lion (6 citations), Joe’s Brewery (6 citations), Clybourne (0 citations), and Firehaus (0 citations).
The purpose of the ACE program is to reduce/deter underage drinking in Illinois. The overall goal is to prevent, deter, and take enforcement action in response to violations of laws associated with impaired driving, the sale of alcohol to a minor, the illegal consumption or possession of alcohol or drugs by minors, and increase police presence in the campus area.
