Death Toll Rising From Midwest Tornadoes
(Undated) — The death toll is growing from a series of tornadoes in the Midwest. Officials say at least three people are now dead. Local news reports in Perry County, Missouri, say at least one person died when a tornado touched down in Perryville last night. Authorities say vehicles were blown off Interstate 55 and houses were damaged along Highway 51. Earlier in the day, a death was reported when several tornadoes touched down in South Ottawa, Illinois. The unidentified victim was reportedly killed by a falling tree. A third death was confirmed in Crossville, Illinois. The National Weather Service reported that six to ten storms produced reports of more than two dozen tornadoes.
