Jack Edward Christensen, age 66, of Mason, Illinois, passed away at 8:14 AM – Friday, April 7, 2017, at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.
Funeral services celebrating Jack’s life will be held at 10:00 AM – Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at the Meyer Funeral Home in Dieterich, Illinois, with Nate Hagen officiating. Burial will be in the Bailey Cemetery west of Latona, Illinois. Visitiaton will be held 4:00-7:00 PM – Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at the funeral home. Jack was born on February 13, 1951, in Paxton, Illinois, the son of George and Mary Lou (Bogard) Christensen.
Jack worked for the Milwaukee Railroad for many years and later worked and retired from Steven’s Industries in Teutopolis, Illinois, after 17 years of service.
Jack was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Squadron #1168 of the Edgewood American Legion, where he served for over 20 years as Squadron commander. He enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with children and grandchildren.
Jack is survived by: Significant other of 26 years – Tammy Loy of Mason, Illinois, Children – George (Heather) Christensen of Edmond, Oklahoma, Jessica Vick of Lockwood, Missouri, Tia Loy (Cecil Robinson) of Mode, Illinois and Marah White (Donnie Bowen) of Iola, Illinois, 10 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren, Brothers and Sisters – Paul (Irene) Christensen of Bedford, Indiana, Mike Christensen of Fairfield, Illinois, Cindy (Dave) Miller of Edgewood, Illinois, Bill Christensen of Farmington, New Mexico, Ida Jones of Jackson, Tennessee, Ina (Lynn) Simmons of Mason, Illinois and Sue (Mike) Downing of Paxton, Illinois
Jack was preceded in death by his parent and a special uncle Olie Christensen.
