An Effingham man was killed while working on a vehicle last night. According to Coles County Coroner Ed Schniers, 48-year-old Michael Slaughter was working underneath a vehicle at his uncle’s home in Mattoon when the car fell on him. Schniers says he was notified of the incident early this morning after Slaughter’s uncle found him.
