U.S. Men’s Basketball Teams In Barcelona Safe After Terror Attack
(Clemson, SC) — Several U.S. men’s college basketball teams are safe after a terror attack today in Barcelona, Spain. Teams from the University of Arizona, Clemson, Oregon State and Tulane were okay. Police said a van plowed into a crowd at a popular tourist area in the central part of the city, killing at least one person and injuring at least 32. The teams are in Barcelona participating as part of a preseason tour of Europe with several preseason games scheduled. Oregon State head coach Wayne Tinkle tweeted the attack happened in front of the team’s hotel during a team meal in the restaurant. Clemson also tweeted its traveling party was safe. An ESPN reporter said the Arizona and Tulane teams are also safe.
