(EFFINGHAM, IL) – HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce that the third phase of construction for the new HSHS St. Anthony’s Health Center will begin immediately. The Health Center will be connected to the current Effingham Medical Center located at 900 West Temple in Effingham to provide ease of access for physicians and patients.
Parking for patients and colleagues of the Effingham Medical Center tenants has now been relocated to the north side of the building. A new parking lot and north entrance were constructed as part of the first phase of construction for the new Health Center.
Patients needing to come to the Effingham Medical Center should park in the new parking lot off of Medical Park Drive and come in the north entrance. This entrance will remain after construction is completed to provide increased accessibility to both the Effingham Medical Center and the new St. Anthony’s Health Center. The front (south) lot will no longer exist once construction of the new building begins. Construction of St. Anthony’s Health Center is projected to be complete in late 2018.
The Health Center will provide patients with an ideal ambulatory (or outpatient) patient experience by moving outpatient services that are best delivered in an easily accessible setting off the main hospital campus.
In addition to constructing the north parking lot and entrance in preparation for the new Health Center, a second phase of construction included infrastructure and life safety improvements to the Effingham Medical Center, such as a new fire alarm system and enclosing the center’s open stairway to improve the fire safety of the building. The second phase also included aesthetic changes of new flooring, new lighting, and painting the interior to make preparations to match the planned look of the new Health Center before its construction.
When complete, the Health Center allows St. Anthony’s to relocate several hospital outpatient services that are located within blocks of each other, to one centralized location and provide residents easy access to:
- Convenient Care
- Diagnostic Imaging, including X-ray, CT, and our Open MRI
- Women’s Wellness Center with 3D Mammography, Stereotactic Breast Biopsy and Boutique
- Laboratory Specimen Collection
In addition, part of St. Anthony’s Health Center will have office space available for physicians’ offices.
