Wheaton College Football Players Face Felony Charges
(Wheaton, IL) — Five members of the football team at Wheaton College are facing felony charges, after being accused of brutally hazing a teammate.
One Wheaton College student says there is a passage prohibiting hazing in the College’s student handbook, but most students glaze right over it. The football players the the private Christian school in a Chicago suburb, are being charged with aggravated battery, mob action, and unlawful restraint. An attorney for the alleged victim said the players took the freshman teammate from campus with a pillowcase over his head, tied him up with duct tape, then left him beaten and half naked in a field. A statement from Wheaton College said the school is cooperating fully with the investigation and has launched a review into the effectiveness of its anti-hazing policy.
