No Major Sanctions For UNC After Academic Fraud Probe
(Indianapolis, IN) — The University of North Carolina is avoiding major sanctions after an NCAA probe into alleged dummy classes. The NCAA says it could not conclude UNC violated academic rules when it made paper courses in African-American studies available to the student body, including student-athletes. The Committee on Infractions says there were two violations involving administrators not cooperating with the investigation, but it could not determine the classes were created solely to help student-athletes remain academically eligible.
