Apple To Teach Coding In Chicago Schools
(Cupertino, CA) — Apple wants to teach code to every public school student in Chicago. CEO Tim Cook tells “USA Today” that Apple will partner with the Chicago school system next year to teach the coding language Swift in city classrooms and after-school clubs in the district. Cook said it was the next progression in the “Everyone Can Code” initiative that Apple started last year. The initiative has brought code training to hundreds of elementary and high schools around the world. Chicago is the biggest district where Apple is pushing its coding program. About 84-percent of the K-12 student body in Chicago is black or Latino.
