According to a Charleston Police Department Press Release, on Thursday (12/28/17), at approximately 10:04 a.m. officers from the Charleston Police Department conducted a traffic stop in the 800 block of 18th Street for a minor traffic violation. During the stop, the passenger, Matthew Grissom, 28 of Charleston, was found to be in possession of suspected Heroin. During the arrest of Grissom, the driver of the vehicle, Robert W. Brown, 37 of Chicago, fled from officers. Brown was apprehended after a short foot pursuit and found to be in possession of suspected Heroin.
Brown was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver, Obstructing Justice, and Resisting a Peace Officer. Grissom was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance and Obstructing Justice.
Brown and Grissom were placed in the Coels County Safety and Detention Center pending bond. The Charleston Police Department seized the 2005 Mazda driven by Brown pending a property seizure hearing.
