Chicago Police Commander Killed While Chasing Suspect Near Thompson Center
(Chicago, IL) — Condolences are pouring in for a 30-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department who died while chasing a suspect. It happened yesterday near the Thompson Center in Chicago, which is the home of state government in the city. Officers say 53-year-old Commander Paul Bauer tried to arrest a man who was already running from police. The suspect shot Bauer several times and he died a short time later at a local hospital. “The Chicago Tribune” reports the suspect is a four-time felon with a lengthy arrest record and who spent 16 years in prison for a 1998 robbery.
