White Questioned About Sexual Harassment Lawsuit
(PyeongChang, South Korea) — Amid celebrating his third career gold medal in the men’s halfpipe, U.S. snowboarder Shaun White is also being questioned about a sexual harassment lawsuit. The suit from 2016 was brought by a former female drummer in his rock band. White simply responded by saying he’s there to talk about the Olympics, not gossip.
U.S. Men’s Hockey Playing Slovenia
(PyeongChang, South Korea) — The U.S. men’s hockey team is playing its first game of the 2018 Winter Games this morning. Slovenia is the first opponent for Team USA, which is competing without NHL players for the first time since 1994. The U.S. finished fourth in Russia four years ago and is looking for its first gold medal since Lake Placid in 1980.
U.S. Women’s Hockey To Clash With Canada Tonight
(PyeongChang, South Korea) — Team USA clashes with nemesis Canada late tonight in the women’s hockey tournament. Both teams are off to 2-and-0 starts in preliminary-round play. Canada is the four-time defending gold medalist. The Americans blew a late 2-0 lead against Canada in the gold medal game four years ago and lost 3-2 in overtime.
Shiffrin Hopes To Finally Get To Ski Tonight
(PyeongChang, South Korea) — American Mikaela Shiffrin is hoping to finally get to ski at the 2018 Games tonight. She’s had two events postponed this week due to weather conditions, including the women’s slalom last night. Shiffrin won that event four years ago. She’ll compete in tonight’s rescheduled women’s giant slalom, which starts at 8 p.m. Eastern.
Netherlands, Norway Tied For Medal Lead
(PyeongChang, South Korea) — The Netherlands and Norway are tied atop the medal standings in PyeongChang. They’ve each won 11 medals thus far to set the pace in a tight race. Germany and Canada are next with 10 medals each, while the U.S. is fifth overall with seven medals. Germany has the most gold with six. Team USA has four gold medals.
