According to Governor Bruce Rauner’s office, former Coles County sheriff’s deputy John Clough has been removed as a member of the Illinois Prisoner Review Board. The letter says the governor’s office received allegations that Clough used a racial epithet to refer to an African-American while working as a deputy. Clough has admitted to doing so, but claimed he was quoting another person, and that he is not a racist.
