(New York, NY) — U.S. Senator Charles Schumer, along with students from an Upper East Side school are unveiling a series of legislative measures in the hopes of curbing gun violence and staving off future mass shootings. They include stronger background checks, disarming individuals who have shown credible signs of being a harm to themselves or others and a formal debate on assault weapons in the U.S. Senate. Schumer says young people “will not stand for gridlock on guns,” adding that loopholes on current gun laws need to be closed.
