(Washington, DC) — One person is reported dead in the emergency landing of a Southwest jet at Philadelphia International Airport. The plane was on its way from New York to Dallas when it suffered an engine failure. The plane made an emergency landing in Philadelphia, where one person was taken to a hospital in critical condition. The chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board later remarked that one person had died. Chairman Robert Sumwalt said an NTSB investigation team is on its way to look at what happened.

Passengers on board a plane leaving New York’s LaGuardia Airport say a woman was nearly sucked out of the plane after a window imploded. It happened after one of the plane’s engines blew out. The young woman was pulled back into the plane by other passengers and the plane made an emergency landing in Philadelphia around 11:30 a.m. Some passengers were seen leaving the plane on crutches, and at least one person was hospitalized.

(Dallas, TX) — Southwest Airlines is promising to get more information after a flight from New York to Dallas had to make an emergency landing. A spokesperson confirmed almost 150 people were on Flight 1380 when it diverted to Philadelphia International Airport this morning. The Dallas-based airline isn’t sure what caused the problem, but promises safety is their first priority. Pictures on social media show an engine which appeared to have blown along with a window. There are also social media posts about injuries, but Philadelphia police and fire have not commented.
