AFSCME: Governor Rauner Is Slow To Make Good On Raises
(Springfield, IL) — Illinois’ largest public employee union says Governor Bruce Rauner is dragging his feet on their promised raises. The governor’s office yesterday asked the Illinois Labor Relations Board to allow them to pay just six months of back pay, not the 63 million-dollars that AFSCME says it’s owed. A spokeswoman for Rauner says they should only have to pay for raises up until AFSCME’s contract expired in June of 2015; there has not been a new deal signed with the union since.
