(Undated) — The reigning Miss America is accusing the pageant of bullying and trying to silence her in a five-page letter. A copy of the letter was given to USA Today which printed parts of it. Miss America 2018 is Cara Mund of North Dakota and she says CEO Regina Hopper and chair Gretchen Carlson are trying to erase her role in subtle and not-so-subtle ways. Mund had talked about trouble inside the organization during an interview with a New Jersey newspaper earlier this month. She claims they told her to stick to talking points and was denied the chance to do major interviews. Carlson is a former Miss America and Fox News host. Miss America Organization issued a statement saying it supports Mund and is sorry she took her concerns public. They wrote they intend to reach out to her to address them. Mund said she felt like she was in a Mean Girls movie, with people criticizing her clothes, mispronouncing her name and spreading information about her.
