Hurricane Lane Downgraded To Cat 2
(Honolulu, HI) — Hurricane Lane is weakening as it dumps torrential rain on Hawaii. The Central Pacific Hurricane Center in Honolulu downgraded the storm to Category 2 status this morning, with maximum sustained winds of 110 miles an hour. Forecasters expect further weakening as Lane continues to move toward the north through tonight. Officials say it remains a dangerous storm causing catastrophic flooding and landslides on the Big Island of Hawaii. Hurricane warnings remain in effect for Oahu and Maui County including the islands of Maui, Lanai and Molokai. A tropical storm warning is in effect for Hawaii County.
