Coast Guard Faults Duck Boat Captains In Branson Tragedy
(Springfield, MO) — The U.S. Coast Guard is claiming there is probable cause the captain of the duck boat that sank on July 19th in Branson, Missouri killing 17 people committed wrongdoing. It claims the captain committed “misconduct, negligence or inattention to duties” in a court filing yesterday. The Coast Guard also faulted the captain of a second duck boat that did not sink for acting in a grossly negligent manner. The U.S. Attorney’s office made the filing to ask for a delay in the discovery phase of civil lawsuits in the case. That’s a legal procedure where both sides share information. The U.S. Attorney’s office doesn’t want to share information in the civil lawsuits because they say it may harm their criminal investigation.
