University Of Illinois Eyeing Tax Breaks To Lure Companies To Campus
(Urbana, IL) — The University of Illinois wants permission from state lawmakers to offer its own tax breaks to lure big companies to campus. U of I President Tim Killeen yesterday told The Champaign News-Gazette that the school’s legislative package for next spring includes the Grow Illinois plan. That would provide companies ‘significant’ tax incentives to come to Illinois and associate with the school. Killeen says the idea is to lure companies to Illinois as a way to keep talented students in the state.
