China says the U.S. has no right to interfere in its decision to buy weapons from Russia. A defense ministry spokesman said today that China’s decision to buy fighter jets and missile systems from Russia is a normal act of cooperation between sovereign countries. On Thursday, the U.S. State Department imposed sanctions on China’s military after it bought weapons from Russia’s main arms exporter. This morning, China’s defense ministry called the U.S. sanctions a blatant violation of international relations and a serious breach of relations between the two countries. The spokesman warned that the U.S. would face consequences if it did not immediately revoke the sanctions.
