HSHS Athletes Advantage Sports Medicine now being offered to area athletes by HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital
(EFFINGHAM, IL) – HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital is proud to announce that area athletes have access to athletic training services through HSHS Athletes Advantage Sports Medicine. Through the HSHS Athletes Advantage Sports Medicine program, St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital recently hired three certified athletic trainers to provide quality medical coverage to St. Anthony’s High School, St. Elmo Junior/Senior High School and Brownstown Junior/Senior High. St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital is excited to enter this new partnership with our local schools.
HSHS Athletes Advantage Sports Medicine Program Manager Jamie Wagner, MEd, ATC, CSCS, explained how the area student athletes benefit from the program. “Through these important partnerships, certified athletic trainers attend games and practices at the schools to provide on-site injury evaluation, management of concussion injuries and sport-specific rehabilitation to ensure ideal outcomes,” she said. “Additionally through the Athletes Advantage Program, student athletes have access to licensed physical therapists and assistants so you can be confident in knowing your athletes are in good hands.”
Athletes Advantage also offers the ImPACT® Concussion Program. This program aids in the evaluation and management of concussion injuries. ImPACT is a computer-based program focused on cognitive functioning; measuring speed of mental processing, reaction time, and memory capacity. The ImPACT program provides physicians with another tool to ensure students are truly back to normal before returning to the classroom and sports.
Wagner shared, “Like all of the schools we are privileged to serve, HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital and the Athletes Advantage Sports Medicine Program is excited to offer St. Anthony’s, St. Elmo’s and Brownstown’s students with high-quality, compassionate sports medicine care. Our partnership with these schools is an investment in the south-central region of Illinois, allowing us to continue our healing ministry by ensuring the health of area student athletes,” she said.
