9-11 Victims Compensation Fund May Not Have Enough Cash For All Victims
(New York, NY) — The 9-11 Victims Compensation Fund may not have enough cash for all victims sickened at Ground Zero from the 9-11 attacks. The news comes as a result of a request for comment on recommendations on how the seven-point-three-billion-dollar fund can be more conservative. The Daily News reports feedback is being requested on whether the fund should remove or lower its standard awards for non-cancer conditions and if it should adjust calculations for pre-death lost earnings for victims who died. The fund predicts more than five thousand new claims will be filed before the December 2020 deadline, but fear that the number is most certainly an under count.
