(Mexico Beach, FL) — Hurricane Michael is pummeling the Florida Panhandle with winds, rain and storm surge. Mexico Beach councilwoman Linda Albrecht evacuated, but she’s heard some devastating news from friends who are riding out the storm. Albrecht says she hasn’t heard exactly what sort of damage her home has suffered or even if her home is still standing. Albrecht is worried that her small town southeast of Panama City is being wiped off the map from the powerful storm. Michael made landfall today as a Category Four hurricane and is quickly moving inland. The storm losing some strength, but it’s expected to continue bringing hurricane force winds as it moves into Alabama and Georgia.
