Report: Tornado Alley Is Shifting East
(DeKalb, IL) — Tornado Alley may be shifting east. A new study says over the past 40 years, the number of tornadoes has decreased in the southern and central Plains, commonly known as Tornado Alley. Meanwhile, tornadoes have increased in a region of the Midwest and Southeast known as Dixie Alley. The lead researcher at Northern Illinois University said Texas and Oklahoma still get more tornadoes, but the Southeast and Midwest are closing the gap. The so-called Dixie Alley stretches from Alabama to Illinois.
