State’s Highest-Paid Superintendent Fired
(Calumet City, IL) — The highest-paid public schools superintendent in Illinois is being fired just days before he was set to retire. The Calumet City School Board last week voted to fire District 155 Superintendent Troy Paraday, who had an annual salary of 430-thousand dollars. Board members said Paraday had fraudulently given himself a six percent raise a few months ago without board approval and had fudged the numbers to accrue more than 760-thousand dollars in vacation and sick pay after his retirement. Paraday’s lawyer said he denies the allegations.
