Some Lawmakers Think New Governor Means Legal Marijuana
(Springfield, IL) — Some Illinois lawmakers think the state is a big step closer to legal marijuana after last week’s election. State Rep. Kelly Cassidy said Governor Bruce Rauner doesn’t support recreational marijuana, and has fought efforts to legalize it in the state. But she says that governor-elect J.B. Pritzker supports legal marijuana. He’s looking to use the millions of dollars he expects it to generate to pay for a host of new programs. Cassidy thinks the new governor could move the state toward legal, recreational marijuana.
